State of the Union 4th Feb 2022

Things are improving, a lot of my health problems are receding in the rear view mirror, and I am thinking about getting back to some sort of work and or study. King’s recently made me an unconditional offer to read an MSc in Applied Neuroscience, but I have to sort out the funding.

Sadly my mother passed away late last November. Friends and my Minister tell me bereavement is something that comes and goes. I don’t feel bereaved at the moment, and am able to get a few things done, but there has been an overly long hiatus with the short stories I was putting together for Greg in LA. I’m going to do my best to get back on track this Monday, and begin writing again every day. Easy habit to lose though!

Towards the Beginning of Empire State Human 36/10/22

Towards The Beginning of Empire State Human (On my recovery from everything and rebuilding my fortunes).  26/10/22.

I have never seen the NHS as busy as it Is now since the height of the COVID crisis. I guess they aer playing catch up, and preparing for winter.

Well I was having some pretty serious pain-management problems due to chest pain, on my lfet hand side and what I think was rower’s whiplash – a common injury amongst Oarsmen and and women, and not difficult to remedy.

I was on Tramadol for a few weks, which is not popular with MDs in the UK due to it’s ever decreasing circles of effectiveness. Now I’m on anti-inlamatoriees instead and they are, after only aa few days really working out well.

I have been steadily ssaving, and re-equipping my flat, after eh disaster of  around 2017, when everything electrical or electronic in the flat blew up. There was no surge protection, and the electrical installation in Camden’s ‘Building of the Yea’award winner 2008, were about as shoddy as everything else in this building. The social landlord means well, but the haven’t  a clue how ot put a building together. Having had to spend £150M on remedial work, they may think more carefully next time. Also all my best clothes got destroyed in repeated floods from the flat upstairs.  Outside of major litigation, I can’t get  a cent out of CDS.  And as I have now two winter otufits that look respectable I don’t know if, at the grand age of 58, I should not just draw a line under it and move on. The Epicurean in me wouldn’t know what to do with a big award – I’d just trip over ia big bag of money and break my nose.

Now the task at hand iis to get my fitness back, and my dexterity on my musical instruments. My former colleague at Harris-Manchester, Greg Smart at a Documentary Film Producer, and  Venture Capitalist Red Caboose is expecting material from me.

Greg has been a tremendous support in troubled times, and if I put material together he says he will pitch it for me to the US market.

He put to me the idea of short stories. So I wrote a very bleak nihilistic 1000 word piece which he liked. I also sent him a very rough recording of me singing act 1: Scene 1, of Elevator Music, which he liked.

It’s all baby steps right now – I can’t even type properly; I was seven years without a computer at home!!! I used tto be able to type 120 words a minute, which is how I was able to write Savage in 50 days.  A second draft of that is I have set myself the next 12 months to deal with, and get before George Appleby, my Literary Mentor.

Still, a new base guitar arrives this afternoon. And by Christmas I want a demo by my band the New Mexicans, 11 short stories (The other ten are happy clappy stories of hope presenting people in challenging circumstances, which is everybody now and again. I’d like at least sketches of all the tracks in Elevator Music in  a presentable form, and to pull together all my extant verse in a volume.

That’s plenty for me to do. Meanwhile I am awaiting the issuance of a CPAP mask for my sleep apnoea, and am just in the business of gradually getting fiter.

But I’m in good spirits. Vern, my house guest, is good company. 20 years on the sick under the NHS. I have learned much, and I intend to reflect this in my stories.

Towards the Beginning of Empire State Human Sept 12, 2022.

Fighting to get back into shape and restore my fortunes: It only recently has transpired that I sustained a  serious head-injury, resulting in a fractured skull, and damage to my left hippocampus, and scaring on my  brain, when I was 21, working on a show for Sammies, at Earl’s Cour.t

I fell 3M, off of a road box, onto the back of my head – this alone would have killed most people; all I remember is sitting up, and all the cerebral fluid discharging from around my brain, out through my nose, in a very ‘Aliens’, fashion. I passed out, and only regained consciousness when I was in the attending ambulance, as the crew were cutting off my clothes.

In hospital I was told I had simply broken the bones at the top of my nose, which to this day leaves me with no sense of taste or smell. I don’t think CT technology existed back then, and the skull fracture, and brain damage was only recently discovered by a Consultant Neurologist., meaning the good old NHS has been barking up the wrong tree for the last 20 years.

The scarring on my brain leads to extended seizures, of up to 40 minutes, and I have twice been found dead in the corridors of this very building due to seizures.

As a scholar of the ancient world, I can relate that in the Greco/Roman world, seizures were very fashionable.  One was thought to have been literally ‘seized’ by the Immortal Gods. It was known as ‘The falling sickness.’

Julius Caesar was said to suffer from it, but his arch-enemy, who hated him, Cicero, said he was just faking it.

Be that as it may, seizures, as I have related above,  can  cause me cardiac arrest, and are taken very seriously be the Medical Profession. I find the ‘aura’ or the sense that I am going to have a fit terrifying, and, under medicated, I would hit the scotch to the tune of up to 3 bottles a day, to stave off a seizure.

Forever I was presenting at A and E at my local hospital, the Royal Free, either detoxing or plastered.   I have done every sort of treatment for alcoholism from AA to rehab. But then a bright spark upped my sodium valproate to 800mgs from 500 mgs. And all was well I stopped even getting the aura.

Now, I have not had a drink at for 8 months  – I had been experimenting a bit to see if the AA hypothesis applied to me, and found  I can take a two or three pints without consequence; however,

An ambulance crew informed me that ethyl alcohol, and anti-seizure meds were  commonly known to be fatal; rat poison I call it: so I simply don’t drink. Superstitious naysayers in AA would predict my downfall, but I don’t.

I also have obstructive sleep apnoea, which went undiagnosed for decades. Now that is soon to be fixed.

But I am still very much alive, very creative and I remain an ambitious man. Not meaning It as a compliment my de facto manager Jacques, who is an Oxford MA physics, a MBA and a famous name in the City, referred to me as a renaissance man, meaing that I needed to focus. Well that I am doing!!! Rebuilding my fitness   job no 1. Whilst II have been used to a City Banker income most of my adult life, I am now on the package of  a teacher or a nurse. As I don’t any longer have to dink 3 bottles of scotch a day to stave off a seizure, I feel comfortably off, and can save. Cool.

Towards the Beginning of Empire State Human 1st /9/22

I don’t know what to say: Starting all over again after 20 years misdiagnosis by the NHS.  At least we have some idea of what Is wrong with me now: And I get treated like royalty at my local hospital, The Royal Free, and my GPs, on account of the error. My lawyers tell me heir ain’t  milage in  suing the NHS, and I don’t think there is, and wouldn’t like to be the author of this anway; but to say they have been barking up the wrong tree for the last 20 years, to put it mildly, is a is a bit tough to chew swallow and digest. It’s cost me at least $2M in lost earnings, alone, and that’s the least of it.

Hey ho, well it is just after 5am, so a good time to catch up with Ross Baker in NZ and see how my designs are coming on. I have to start patenting my stuff, and that is on my  list for today. 1st things first, I have to do my physio, and workout. Then have a nice, hot shower, and get  into fresh clothes, then a walk on the Heath, and breakfast by the Heath. I need to get back in good shape for myreturn to Los Angeles, next Feb. I’ll probably stay about a month scaring up contracts, and pressing the flesh and working the room.

My old, pre-oxford work paid City Banker money, with all the bits, but I have been away from cutting edge technologies for so long my City friend and neighbour, Jacques, who is back in town today, from his vacation in the lakes, counsels me to put myself about as a Project Manager/Produciton Manager/Producer, and we will see what my writing can add to that. Really I need my feet on the ground in Hollywood to guage what is going on. I can’t really tell over the phone.

Towards The Beginning of Empire State Human (On my recovery from everything and rebuilding my fortunes).  28th Aug 28.

Well, church is off today as the roof is being fixed. Vern my house guest is away, so I am just  potering about, tidying up and doing chores. I have quite a bit of reading to do before settling down to write Oedipus. It’s a pretty simple task to write, and I just top and tail Sophocles great tradgedy, with a savage excoriation of Tony Blair for taking the nation to war for personal gain.

I’m not sure that the UK is the right place for me to be. All my work is in or through Los Angeles, and I would like to get back to some sort of my traditional work in the field of Technology in Leisure and Entertainment.

The only thing that could keep me in the UK is Ms Right. I have been doing some internet dating, but that seems pretty rubbish.

I keep knocking out designs for things with Ross in NZ. And Greg in LA is very enthusiastic about Oedipus, but there are some considerable teething troubles in putting a company together. I really don’t know whether it is worth the bother.

Meanwhile I am Chairman and Founder of 3 Limited companies: The Syndicate, Mind, Body and Soul,, which is a think tank, for my friends internationally and I and the holding company, Also Archimedian Media Projects and Press (AMPP) and Ecowarrior Engineering Internationale [Sic]. I doubt they will turn a cent in the short term, but they are useful vehicles in the mid and long term.

Towards The Beginning of Empire State Human (On my recovery from everything and rebuilding my fortunes).  28th Aug 22.

Well busy day every day, inventing things. I have Ross Baker in NZ working on the membrane which is made of micro transducers and could be made into just about anything. I’m thinking currnently of blankets for the NHS, ponchos for the torrential rain we are experiencing. And my body stocking. My range of thermal wear which can adjust its temperature hot or cold according to the environment, would have saved the lives of two SAS men who died on training exercises of heat exhaustion. Most models have a mobile phone built in because these are low current devices, ideal for the current generated by the membrane. It could also power LED lights at home.

Various other projects on the go such as my band the New Mexicans, which I am working on with my house  guest Vern.

Soon  14th Sept –  the figurative end of the battle of Britain – I shall be 27, not for the first time, and it will be Heineken Zero all around, dropped off a load of quality chocs to the Royal free yesterday.  And a note of thanks to Dr Connor the last A and E Consultant to take care of me. Cash positon good, pay day tomorrow; Jacques is back from holiday soon. Cool. Live is good, and I am enjoying myself.  Gotta knock out at least one New Mexicans tune today, and will be writing Oedipus the King Starring Tony Blair over the weekend. Here the core is Sophocles great play, which I top and tail with a savage excoriation of TB for his role in the Iraq war. My thesis? TBB took Geat Britain to war for personal gain. Meeting one of my actors, Colin Adrian tomorrow. Hooked up iwht Film Producer and college chum Greg Smart in LA, he is looking after distribution to streaming channels.

On Applied Transducion

On applied transduction.

A transducer is a component that converts force to electricity. Force is all around is in our global village, and our need is electricity.

My body stocking, that heats up and cools down according to the environment, draws it’s power from the movement of the body. Ross Baker in NZ is working on the membrane, which could be used in a zillion applications. Our need is electricity. We have force in and all around us. QED Applied transduction could save the planet!

My basic thesis.

My basic thesis is that force can be transduced to produce electricity. There is a superabundance of force in the modern world. I have thought of a membrane to cover most things that would absorb this force, and could generate electricity, in the home, at work, on the roads in the gym.

PhD thesis i hope to research 5 years part time..

Dear Bob,

my hypothesis  is that we can best accelerate Net Zero Emission and cope with climate change by applying mechanical forces to the entertainment industry, and the leisure industry. In Disneyland there are many opportunities for mechanical advantage to generate electricity to store in batteries. Same with theatre and rock festivals. All these consume a lot of electricity. In the UK children’s parks generate an enormous amount of potential energy. Kids have so much energy, transducing that could make a -net carbon kidis park. I think I have unique idea.

To cope with climate change, changing the way we design our cities along ancient times. I study a lot of this at A level. And at Oxford. The Stoa, was home to the Stoics. And the Academics studied at the Academy – both nice cool colonnades in temple complexes.
